Ian Chesney joined the men's soccer coaching staff as a student assistant prior to the start of the 2025 season after spending four years with the program as a student-athlete.

In his first season as part of the staff, the Red Hawks won 12 games and clinched their second NJAC Regular Season Championship in three seasons.

During his four years at Montclair, Chesney started all 82 of his appearances, accumulating 12 goals and 14 assists over 6,879 minutes. He was a Second Team All-American in 2023 and was named United Soccer Coaches Association First Team All-Region all four years. Chesey was a back-to-back NJAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024, and garnered First Team All-NJAC honors each season of his career.
