Montclair State University Athletics

Eddie Stawinski begins his 16th season as the head coach of the Montclair State volleyball program in 2026.

Stawinski, who enters this year with a record of 280-169, is the program's all-time wins leader, a mark he reached in September 2019. Over the last 11 seasons, Montclair State has registered 210 victories and appeared in four NJAC Championship matches over the last nine seasons, continuing the most successful stretch since the inception of the team in 1989. He reached the 200 win plateau for his career when the Red Hawks topped Stockton in the NJAC Semifinals in 2021.

• Named the fifth head coach in program history in 2011
• Led Montclair State to the NJAC Championship and NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship in 2016
• Has taken the Red Hawks to 13 NJAC Tournaments
• Reached the NJAC Championship Match five times.

• Coached the program's first major regional award winner (Camryn Muuss - 2024)
• Coached the only four AVCA All-Region players in program history and the only All-Americans (Carly Waterman – 2019, 2021, Delaney St. Pierre – 2021, Camryn Muuss – 2024)
• Has seen four players earn Player of the Year awards from the NJAC
• Has coached 38 All-NJAC selections
• Has had 11 players selected to the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

• Became the all-time winningest coach in 2019 surpassing Sandy Sanchez-Lombeyda with a 3-0 win at Vassar on September 21.
• Has led the Red Hawks to seven of the ten 20-win seasons in program history (’12, ’16 ‘ 18 ‘ 19, '21, '24, '25)
• Led MSU to single-season record 26 victories twice in 2016 and 2025.
• Guided Montclair to a perfect 13-0 record at home in 2016.

• Victory No. 100 – vs. St. Joseph’s (LI), 3-2 (September 16, 2016)

• Victory No. 250 - vs. Brooklyn College, 3-0 (November 2, 2025)

• Served as head coach for the men’s program at the University of New Haven and was an assistant coach at the University of Connecticut.
• Earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Springfield College in 2005 and master’s in Physical Education from Springfield in 2008.
• Played for Springfield helping the Pride to two Division III national championships.
• Named a First-Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in 2004 and 2005.
• Finished second all-time for digs (787) and digs per games (2.56).
• Played professionally for three seasons with the Caribes de San Sebastian squad in the Puerto Rico Superior League.
